§ 25-6. Definitions.

For the purpose of this chapter the following definitions shall apply:

City sponsored league play athletic event means an athletic event which is authorized, organized or scheduled in whole or in part by the city parks and recreation department.

City co-sponsored league play athletic event means an athletic event which is authorized, organized or scheduled with the assistance of the city parks and recreation department by a non-profit organization which is a member of the Irving All Sports Association.

Closed field means a playing field or a game field that has been closed for any use due to inclement weather or maintenance requirements by order of the director.

Director shall mean the director of the City of Irving Department of Parks and Recreation or the superintendent of athletics and aquatics of the City of Irving department of parks and recreation or designee.

Game field means a field that has been designated by the director to be used only for the purpose of conducting league play or tournament play for city sponsored or city co-sponsored league play athletic events only.

Playing field means any portion of a park that is either owned or leased by the city that has been designated as an area in which athletic league games are played. This would include fields for football, soccer, softball, baseball, or any other sport activity sponsored or co-sponsored by the city parks and recreation department.
