§ 37-54. Meters.

(a)

All taxicabs must be equipped with a taximeter. The design and manufacturer of a taximeter must be approved by the director.

Each taximeter shall be maintained in good operating condition and be tested and certified at least once a year.

(b)

The director will accept certification of testing by an approved governmental authority, including but not limited to, the cities of Dallas, Forth Worth or D/FW Regional Airport, that a taximeter has been tested and approved by that entity in accordance with its ordinance and rules and regulations.

(c)

In additions the director will assure, upon the vehicle's inspection, that the taximeter is sealed at all points at which components, if manipulated, could affect the function or accuracy of the taximeter.
