§ 38-74. Duties and responsibilities.

  • The duties and responsibilities of the board shall be to:

    (1)

    Recommend policies on recreation services for approval by the city council;

    (2)

    Advise the director on problems of development of recreation areas, facilities, programs, and improved recreation services;

    (3)

    Recommend the adoption of standards for recreational areas, facilities, programs, and their financial support;

    (4)

    Have periodic inventories made of existing services and survey of services needed and interpret the needs of the public to the city council and to the director;

    (5)

    Aid in coordinating the recreation services with the programs of other governmental agencies and interested groups;

    (6)

    Review the effectiveness of the parks and recreation program with the director and the city manager;

    (7)

    Promote the policies and functions of the department to the public; and

    (8)

    Have the opportunity to review the annual budget of the department proposed by the director before submission to the city manager and advise the director on the development of long-range capital improvement program.
