§ 3-1. Definitions.

  • For the purposes of this chapter, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section:

    Aircraft. Any weight-carrying structure for navigation of the air, designed to be supported either by the buoyancy of the structure or by the dynamic action of the air against its surfaces, including but not limited to airplanes, propeller driven and jets, helicopters or lighter-than-air craft such as balloons or dirigibles.

    Airport. A landing facility for aircraft containing a minimum of sixty (60) acres and approved by the United States Federal Aviation Agency.

    Heliport. An area, either at ground level or elevated on a structure, that is used or is intended to be used for the landing and taking-off of helicopters approved in accordance with the zoning laws of the city and by the United States Federal Aviation Agency.
