§ 40-1. Design standards generally.

  • Each new car and used car lot or place of business for the sale of any used or new cars, automobiles, trucks or other motor vehicles established in the city shall provide and conform to the following minimum standards and requirements:

    (a)

    The entire surface of the lot upon which such vehicles are displayed for sale shall be graded to drain properly and shall be paved with one of the following materials:

    (1)

    Five (5) inches of gravel with one course penetration.

    (2)

    Three (3) inches of gravel with one and one-half (1½) inches of hot mix asphaltic concrete.

    (3)

    Five (5) inches 2500 P.S.I. concrete with #3 bars on twenty-four (24) inch centers or six (6) inch by six (6) inch wire mesh reinforcement.

    (b)

    No vehicle displayed for sale upon a lot shall be parked within three (3) feet of the right-of-way line abutting public streets or other public property, or within one foot of any private property line; and that permanent metal or concrete rails or concrete wheel bumper curbs be installed to enforce the setback requirements.

    (c)

    All signs upon the lot shall be located back of the three (3) foot setback established in subsection (b) of this section.

    (d)

    Toilet facilities shall be provided upon each lot where any vehicle is displayed for sale.

    (e)

    A driveway of not to exceed twenty (20) feet in width shall be provided for each lot to provide proper ingress and egress to such lot.
