§ 27A-14. Assignment pay.

  • (a)

    Classified members of the Irving Fire Department and Irving Police Department shall be eligible for assignment pay in conformity with Sections 143.041 and 143.042 of the Texas Local Government Code in the amounts and under the terms and conditions as follows:

    ASSIGNMENT PAY

    Ambulance "On the Box" Assignment Pay (Fire only) $2.00 hourly
    Arson Investigator Pay (Fire only) $100.00 monthly
    Bilingual Duty (Rate relative to conditions) Conditions include passing the designated exam as administered by the City's Strategic Resources and Budget Department:
    $40.00 monthly-Occupational Proficiency
    $60.00 monthly-Elementary Proficiency
    $150.00 monthly-Working Proficiency, Verbal or Written
    $250.00 monthly-Working Proficiency, both Verbal and Written
    Field Training Officer Pay (Police only) Additional 3% of base pay
    Fire Prevention On Call Pay $1.00 hourly
    Fire Administration Pay
    (fire fighter suppression personnel in 40-hour per week positions)
    $250.00 monthly
    HazMat Pay (Fire only/two levels by rank) $75.00 (non-officers) or $125.00 (officers)
    Technical Rescue (Fire only) $50.00 monthly
    Paramedic Pay (Fire only) $175.00 monthly for 0-4 years of experience
    $200.00 monthly for 4-8 years of experience
    $225.00 monthly for 8 or more years of experience
    Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus Technician (Fire only) $50.00 monthly
    Swift Water Rescue (Fire only) $50.00 monthly
    Six Sigma Team Leader Additional 3.5% of base plus seniority pay

     

    (b)

    Each chief may make assignments in the chief's department which qualify for the above listed assignment pay within the limits of budgeted amounts for salary and benefits. Each chief shall have the authority to specify the functions of each assignment area provided that each member with an assignment listed in subsection (a) shall be eligible for the listed assignment pay amount within the limits of the approved budget. Assignment pay terminates upon termination of the assignment.
