§ 37-51. Rates of fare—Generally.

  • (a)

    A holder may not charge more than the maximum rate of fare which has been approved by the city council. A holder may propose a change in its rates of fare by filing the proposal with the director for consideration by the city council.

    (b)

    The city council shall hold a hearing to consider the proposed change in rates of fare. After the hearing the city council may approve, disapprove or modify the proposed change.

    (c)

    The director shall maintain on file a current schedule of the maximum rates of fare charged by each holder.

    (d)

    A driver shall not charge a fare for operating a taxicab in the city that is inconsistent with the rates on file with the director for the holder under whose operating authority the taxicab is operated.
