§ 20-7. Unlawful to deface library materials or property.

  • It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally, knowingly or recklessly cut, mutilate, mark, tear, write upon, deface or otherwise destroy or injure in whole or in part, any book, pamphlet, periodical, audio-visual item, map or document, picture, or written or engraved or printed paper or any other library property belonging to, loaned to, leased to, or otherwise in the care, custody, or control of the City of Irving Public Library System, or suffer any such injury to be inflicted while such property is in his custody, or to recklessly injure any of the furniture or property in the buildings of the Irving Public Library System, or to recklessly mark or deface or in any way injure the Irving Public Library System or its branches or any part thereof, or any fixtures therein or appurtenances thereto. The violation of any provision in this section shall be punished by a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500.00) and each injury to or defacement of a book, pamphlet, periodical, audio-visual item, map or document, picture, or written or engraved or printed paper or other item of library property belonging to or in the care, custody or control of the Irving Public Library System shall constitute a separate offense.
