§ 21-48.1. Installation of crime watch signs.

  • (a)

    Upon recommendation of the police department, the city traffic engineer is authorized to install crime watch signs when in his judgment the signs will not interfere with traffic safety.

    (b)

    A person desiring the installation of a crime watch sign shall submit an application for installation of the sign to the police department. The application must designate the location requested for installation. If the police department and the traffic engineer determine that the location requested will not interfere with traffic safety, the police department shall notify the applicant to submit a sign to the traffic engineer who shall install the sign.

    (c)

    For the purpose of this section, a "crime watch sign" is a sign of a standard design approved by the chief of police no larger than fourteen (14) inches by twenty (20) inches, that depicts the logo of the National Sheriffs' Association neighborhood watch sign.
