§ 25-1.10. Restrictions on park use.

  • (a)

    The parks and recreation department may establish and post a schedule of visiting hours or restrictions at park locations for the public use of a park or portion of a park. Entering or using a park in a manner which is contrary to the schedule of visiting hours, closures or restrictions is prohibited.

    (b)

    The parks and recreation department may designate particular locations within park areas for specific activities and when so posted it shall be unlawful to use said locations for activities other than those specified. The parks and recreation department may prohibit specific conduct in designated locations by the posting of notice that specific conduct is prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person to use such posted premises in violation of the posting.

    (c)

    Overnight camping is prohibited on any park property without first obtaining express written authority from the director of parks and recreation pursuant to written guidelines.

    (d)

    No person shall conduct any special event or recreation program such as, but not limited to, a water carnival, fishing rodeo, boat regatta, festival, trade show or outdoor presentation at a park, lake or lake shore without a permit or written authorization from the director of parks and recreation and pursuant to written guidelines.

    (e)

    No person shall conduct any such special event or recreation program at a park, lake or lake shore in violation of any term or condition specified in such permit or written authorization.

    (f)

    No person shall picnic at a park, lake or lake shore in an area where picnicking is prohibited by signs or markings.

    (g)

    No person shall engage in or solicit any business in or on parks, waters or lake shores controlled by the City of Irving without first obtaining express written authority from the director of parks and recreation pursuant to written guidelines.

    (h)

    The use of paint ball guns, paint ball ammunition, air guns/pellet guns and ammunition is prohibited on park property.

    (i)

    The parks and recreation department may close or restrict the use of a park or portion of a park when necessitated by reason of public health, public safety, maintenance, or other reasons in the public interest.
