§ 25-1.5. Boating.

  • (a)

    Motorized boats, vessels or watercraft are prohibited on park waters or waters under the control of the City of Irving, excepting the waters of the Trinity River adjacent to Campion Trails. Motorized equipment shall not exceed speed limits of five (5) m.p.h.

    (b)

    All vessels, when in use, shall have safety equipment including personal flotation devices, on board in compliance with U.S. Coast Guard boating safety requirements (Coast Guard Pamphlet C-G290; CFR Part 175) and in compliance with boating safety laws under the State of Texas Water Safety Act.

    (c)

    The use at a park of any vessel not constructed or maintained in compliance with the standards and requirements established by the Federal Safe Boating Act of 1971 (Public Law 92-75, 85 Stat. 213), or promulgated pursuant to such act, is prohibited.

    (d)

    No person may operate a vessel or a similar device on the water under the control of the City of Irving in willful or wanton disregard of the rights or safety of others or without due caution or circumspection, and at a speed or in a manner that endangers, or is likely to endanger, a person or property.

    (e)

    For the purpose of recreational and sports events at lakes controlled by the City of Irving, and pursuant to written guidelines, the director of parks and recreation may authorize the use of water equipment and motorboats that are otherwise prohibited by section 25-1.5(a).
